Whether you’re a picnic and flask person dedicated to not missing a single competitor or up for a VIP experience, the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials (14 – 17 Sept) has something special just for you.
Let’s take a look at all the combinations on offer. Families are so well catered for and depending on the children’s preference for ponies or paninis you can satisfy them all. After buying your General Admission ticket – don’t forget under 12s are free – you can choose from booking a Picnic Bench which seats six, situated down by the lake, so great for viewing and taking your own picnic, or treat your family to a choice of delicious Picnic Hampers. With a great variety of contents, the Pony or Stallion Hampers are full of delicious goodies and there’s also a Veggie option. Alternative picnicking spots can be found all around the course. Premium Forward parking is close to the action if you are planning on eating al fresco by your car. Our very popular Lakeside Parking has already sold out for Saturday but there is availability for Sunday if you’re quick.
For the horse trials stalwarts amongst us who walk the entire course at least once, there are many options for refreshments around the park and, of course, on the dedicated Food Walk in the shopping area. From coffee and cake to something more substantial it’s guaranteed to get your tastebuds tingling!
If you really cannot tear yourself away from the ambiance and action, you can immerse yourself completely by booking a camping package and signing up for the duration. With standard and large pitches with electrical hook up available you could make it a weekend away and even take the pooch as dogs are allowed everywhere except the Grandstands.
Now for those of us looking for a more ‘lux’ touch to our time at the event there is plenty of choice. The Members enclosure with a café and bar includes ring side seats to watch the action combined with some stella arena attractions. Or you could VIP it all the way with an exclusive ticket to Billington’s Brasserie, hosted by showjumping legend Geoff Billington, where you can wine and dine all day with a delicious array of food and drinks on offer from breakfast to afternoon tea. Dress code information for Members and Billington’s Brasserie will be sent with your tickets.
So, no matter which way you want to ‘do’ the Horse Trials at Blenheim Palace there is a combination to be found that will suit you down to the ground.
Finally, we do need to mention a special evening with a particularly talented, funny and all-round nice guy Geoff Billington, European and World medal winner and Olympian along with his mate Tom McEwen, Tokyo Olympic team and Individual Silver medal winner for a special masterclass. They will demonstrate the skills of equestrian sport with lots of laughs along the way. Tickets for the one-time only evening performance on Friday 15 September also includes admission to the event from 4pm – so there’s plenty of time to shop before you enjoy the spectacle.
